Day 1: From Nouakchott to Atar
Arrive in Nouakchott and embark on a scenic 5-hour drive in a private car to Atar. Check in at your hotel, where you can rest before an evening adventure to explore local markets and savor traditional Mauritanian cuisine.
Day 2: From Atar to Oudane and theRichat Structure
Travel to Oudane, a historic town 90 km north of Atar, known for its ancient architecture. En route, marvel at the Richat Structure, also known as the “Eye of the Sahara.” Return to Oudane for an overnight stay at the same hotel.
Day 3: From Oudane to Chinguetti
Drive to Chinguetti, one of the oldest and best-preserved desert towns in Mauritania. Explore UNESCO World Heritage sites including historic mosques and libraries. Overnight in Chinguetti.
Day 4: From Chinguetti to the Great Sand Dunes
Embark on a camel ride to the great sand dunes, located about 10 km from Chinguetti. Visit the Singing Dune, a natural wonder that hums with the wind. Return to Chinguettifor another night.
Day 5: From Chinguetti to Terjit Oasis
Travel from Chinguetti to the Zarga mountain, meeting Bedouin and Berber communities. Spend the night experiencing their lifestyle. Continue to Terjit Oasis, where an overnight stay in a traditional desert camp awaits.
Day 6: From Terjit Oasis to the Iron Train andBenamira Monolith
Visit the Benamira Monolith, a prehistoric rock formation. Head to Choum to board the Iron Train, an iconic journey across the Sahara Desert, with an overnight stay on board.
Day 7: Nouadhibou andBanc d’Arguin
Take a well-deserved rest in Nouadhibou, explore the city, then head to Bancd’Arguin for an overnight stay at Arkeiss Camp.
Day 8: Island Exploration and Return to Nouakchott
Take a morning boat to a picturesque island, have lunch, and then return to Nouakchott. Airport pickup services are provided, concluding your immersive 8-day tour of Mauritania.
